Las Vegas passes the mark of 40 million visitors
Written by François Debruge on Tuesday, January 6, 2015

The city of Las Vegas has just broken a new visitor record and exceeded the symbolic threshold of 40 million visitors for the first time in its history. This was confirmed by the latest figures that were released by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). This strong performance demonstrates that the tourism in the gaming industry in the south of the State of Nevada continues to grow, particularly in achieving an increase in the number of visitors for ten consecutive months.

15 days before the end of the year

Las Vegas exceeded its record of annual visitors by attracting over 40 million people in 2014, even while it was still mid-December. The current success of the city led to almost 41 million visitors at the end of the year. This is a very good performance, especially considering that the previous record with more than 39,727,000 tourists was set in 2012.

Ongoing investments of all partners in the city

The director-general of the LVCVA, Rossi Ralenkotter, acknowledged that Las Vegas had managed to overcome this symbolic threshold thanks to continuous investments of all the partners and entertainers. In fact, over 40 million people had come to enjoy all the amenities the city has to offer. These were made possible because of everyone's investments. An increase in international air traffic in 2014, particularly from Canada and Mexico, also contributed to the growth in the number of visitors last year.

Ongoing developments to maintain the appeal of Las Vegas

Tourism plays a vital role in the economy of the south of Nevada and the Las Vegas Valley. In fact, it generates more than $45 million a year and supports nearly 376,000 local jobs. Rossi Ralenkotter continued his statement saying that the current developments in the city, the renovations and remodelling will help maintain the attraction of Las Vegas not only as one of the world's capitals of gambling, but also entertainment and gastronomy.

A series of entertainment specials and prizes

To celebrate the 40 million visitors mark, numerous partners of the city decided to create a series of animations and special prices. All this is intended to further improve the experience in the city and surprise visitors.
